The Seven Spirits of God

I do not agree that the seven spirits of God are characteristics and extensions of Holy Spirit as most others do. Quite frankly, I am not sure how this idealism is sustained.

These seven spirits are often associated with the menorah, a seven-branched lampstand in ancient Jewish tradition, and according to John’s “second gospel” (Revelation of Jesus Christ), they stand before the throne of God.

The Godhead

The Father deals in sevens. Jesus deals in fours and fives. The Spirit of God deals in nines.

Ergo, the seven spirits of God are extensions of the Father just as the seven redemptive gifts (see Romans 12:6-8).

We find in fours and fives the fingerprints of Jesus:

  • (1) Wonderful counselor, (2) mighty God, (3) everlasting Father, (4) Prince of peace
  • (1) Apostle, (2) prophet, (3) evangelist, (4) pastor, (5) teacher
  • (1) Matthew, (2) Mark, (3) Luke, (4) John [four accounts of the gospel of Jesus Christ]
  • (1) Euphrates, (2) Tigris, (3) Gihon, (4) Pishon [rivers in the garden of Eden]
  • (1) Y, (2) H, (3) W, (4) H [four letters for YHWH or Yahweh, signifying His ever reflection of the Father]
  • (1) Signs, (2) Astonishing wonders, (3) all kinds of powerful miracles, (4) the gifts of Holy Spirit [God’s validation of the children of God in Hebrews 2]
  • “So, lift your hands and give thanks to God for [His] marvelous kindness and for [His] miracles of mercy for those He loves” (4x stated in Psalm 107:8, 15, 21, 31 TPT)
  • Jesus’ clothes were ripped into four parts and each piece was divided among four soliders when he was on the cross (John 19:23)
  • Rainbow appears 4x in Scripture (Genesis 9, Ezekiel 1, Revelation 4, 10)
  • Pentateuch (five books)
  • Five ingredients used to consecrate the furniture in Moses’ tabernacle
  • (1) Lion, (2) ox, (3) eagle, (4) man [cherubim]
  • (1) Lion, (2) ox, (3) eagle, (4) man [four creatures in heaven in Revelation 4]

Holy Spirit (or the Spirit of God)

Holy Spirit is a part of the triune oneness of Abba (Yahweh), Son (Yeshua), and Holy Spirit. We find Holy Spirit in nines, for example, His fruit and His nine gifts.

There are many beings, Scripture states, that are gathered around the throne of thrones where God the Father and God the Son sit. Does that make them Holy Spirit, too?

Understanding the Supernatural

When we overcomplicate things and try to add logic to everything, we will never experience the supernatural.

And while we mustn’t “go off on the deep end” where there is no cementing, we also cannot negate

Defining the Seven Spirits of God Part 1

The seven spirits of God are mentioned in both the book of Isaiah and the book of Revelation. These spirits symbolize various aspects of the Holy Spirit and represent distinctive characteristics and attributes. Let’s explore them:

The Spirit of the Lord: This spirit signifies divine authority and sovereignty.

  • This is the forerunner spirit and the pioneer spirit.
  • This is the conquering spirit in certain times of trial and tribulation.

The Spirit of Wisdom: It represents divine insight, discernment, and practical knowledge.

  • This has more to do with foresight, beautification, and creativity.
  • Wisdom has more to do with strategy and planning; the ability to stand before judges and kings and gain attention and respect.

The Spirit of Understanding: This spirit grants comprehension and deeper insight into spiritual matters.

  • This is what the sons of Issachar had. Therefore, they were a prophetic tribe with the unique ability to apprehend and explain time and seasons and then rightfully maneuver through them.
  • This is what Job as he was a learned man of God.

The Spirit of Counsel: It guides believers in making wise decisions and seeking godly advice.

  • Counsel allowed (and allows) certain men displayed before kings to help them make decisions.
  • This is what helps us to guide others, organize and plan on a massive level, and be judicious.

Defining the Seven Spirits of God Part 2

The Spirit of Might: It empowers individuals to carry out God’s purposes and overcome challenges.

  • Might is more than just fulfilling one’s destiny: we have supernatural endowment of might. Typically, and traditionally, this is always associated with war.
  • Secondly, it is spiritual warfare and overcoming the fiery darts and wiles of the enemy and living victorious.

The Spirit of Knowledge: This spirit imparts divine knowledge and understanding of God’s ways.

  • This is the knowledge that comes from either tree in the garden of Eden. Prayerfully, we choose the tree of life.
  • Knowledge is the intimacy and relationship with God that shall cover the earth like water the sea.

The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord: It fosters reverence, awe, and respect for God.

  • Thus men, especially in the OT, walk in unusual knowledge and wisdom.
  • Therefore, men, especially in the OT, walk closely with God.

The Purpose

Indeed, the seven spirits rested upon Jesus. Furthermore, the children of God are called to do greater works than Jesus. In addition to this, they are an extension of the expression of the Father.

As we grow deeper in our love and affection of God, we pour out increasingly of Himself. And in this hour, we need all of Him.

To be specific, in 2024, we find ourselves in an hour of the spirit of counsel. Contrastingly, in the decade spanning from 2020 to 2029, we’ll witness the spirit of the Lord, coupled with the spirit of wisdom, at play.

Joyful experience!
